Message to COAGO 2009 Participants

Green fairways, Sunshine and Big Smiles were all a part of this year’s event, the one we all look forward to early each September. The Central Ohio Aviation Golf Outing, in its 7th year, seems to only get better, and that’s due to the continued and increasing support of participants and sponsors alike. This year’s tough economy surely a challenge for all and that makes us at COPAMA and PPA especially appreciative for those who made our only annual fundraiser a priority and/or an exception in 2009.  We are also very grateful to those of our friends who traveled here from out of town to add to the fun and enjoy the day with us.

Everyone together makes this gathering a good time and it’s a wonderful “departure” from our work-a-day worlds.  Each outing is the product of team work for which I’m always very grateful. I want to express my Thanks and Appreciation to those who spent the day operating the beverage and lunch carts, keeping the golfers hydrated and nourished, they are:.  Brenda Clemens of Capital City Jet Center, Julie Anderson of Med Air who operated the Honeywell Cart, Nikki Yarman and Angie Trowbridge for Apex Aircraft Detailing, Sheri Boston and Heather Gray of Odyssey Aviation and Molly Youmans and Amy Gilbert of Lane Aviation delivering your snacks.

A special Thank You to Ralph and Shirley Graves who among other things on game day, totally managed the raffle promotion and collections, I consider their help in this area a huge luxury. An extra special Thanks to Lowell Dowler, Gene Sprang and Jim Huntoon. Lowell, as the COPAMA Treasure, who over a period of several weeks, has the greatest challenge the outing, while keeping up with the accounting duties and updating the COPAMA website.  Gene to the rescue on Game Day as Team photographer and official score keeper. And of course Jim of Comlux Completion, for all his help and insight for industry knowledge and connections in the world outside of Columbus.

Together we can always count on a good time, but what fuels our purpose is the corporate sponsorships, as well as the raffle prizes they provide, we thank each and everyone whose time and attention secures the whole variety of funding we enjoy from the Aviation business community. This year we welcome aboard, two new sponsors in Pentastar Aviation and Safety Kleen, Thanks to both, as we also enjoyed their company in play on September 11th.

What made our day even more special? How about the Dassault Aircraft Service Breakfast, The “Enroute Snack” provided by Lane Aviation, Winner trophies compliments of Standard Aero. And nothing suits golfers better after a long day on the links than a hardy meal, again this year provided by Gulfstream and General Dynamics Aircraft Services. Big Thanks to those Super Sponsors!

My personal Thanks to the staff at Willow Run Golf Course, who day after day, work to keep the course in tip top shape and made this year’s outing a pleasure in preparation and seamless in presentation on Game Day. I think it’s safe to say, We’ll be Back!

Once again, Thanks to all the players and sponsors, this year’s golf outing raised significant funds, details of which will soon be reported on the COPAMA web site.  I hope you will all keep your calendars open for next year’s event and look forward to seeing you All at the 8th Annual Central Ohio Aviation Golf Outing where once again we’ll enjoy a round of golf, each other’s company and an opportunity to support future Aviation AMTs and further promote aviation via Youth Aviation Adventure.

Hope you all have a Safe, Healthy and Prosperous Year!
