Report on the June 14, 2005 Meeting at Lane Aviation,
5:30
Greetings everyone,
Here is hoping we find you having a great
summer season. Last year was a fruitful year for learning,
friendship and professional development. This report, we hope, will
inspire everyone to make next year even more exciting. The following
information is intended to help kick off our best year yet.
Minutes of 06-14-05 Meeting:
Lowell Dowler opened the meeting with a
reminder of the fall season activities. The first meeting will be
September 13, 2005 at Lane Aviation, 5:30 pm. Goodyear will sponsor
the meeting and presentation of “Aircraft Tire Care and
Maintenance”.
The golf outing will be Friday, September 16,
2005 at The Landings at Rickenbacker Golf Course. Check the web page
at http://www.copama.org for
more information.
Presentation:
Tom McCelland with SafeTech provided a fine
presentation on “Pressurized Cylinder Inspection and
Regulations”.
He outlined requirements of the Department of
Transportation standards for testing.
Testing topics included stamping, scratches or
etchings. Also, he discussed hydrostatic testing and markings, types
of bottles and life limits and no known replacement for Halon 1301.
Tom spoke of visual inspection and conditions
that will condemn a bottle.
Glen McCauley contributed a safety admonition
concerning handling squib cartridges.
Tom ended his presentation on pressurized
bottles with a demonstration of discharge of a life raft bottle. A
very informative meeting!
Board Meeting:
Your chapter board members met on Thursday,
July 21, 2005 to discuss matters important to the success of our
chapter. Some of the topics discussed include:
The golf outing, a new date for the Pig Roast,
alternate activities and e-mail list updates.
Scholarships, National PAMA Membership and
co-sponsoring of the Avionics Symposium next spring were also
discussed.
If you have any questions or suggestions on
these topics, be sure to mention them at the regularly scheduled
meeting. We will be posting information on the website as details
evolve.
Announcements:
Donna Bricker is going in for a kidney
transplant; we wish her all good fortune and look forward to her
return.
The golf outing date is coming up very quickly.
We have had very few responses so far; For your convenience, point
your browser to this address for your copy of the registration form.

2005/Index.htm
Try to register as soon as you can. This is the
premier event of the season!
Pig Roast: Since we had to move the golf outing
date, it was decided that it would be best to also relocate the pig
roast date because of date conflicts. Therefore, the board has
discussed the possibility of having the pig roast in May 2006, or
even entertain the idea of alternate activities from the membership,
such as a fish-fry. Your input will be greatly appreciated.
Web-page update: Finally, we are going to make
an effort to streamline the web-page for easier access to
information. Please check it out and let us know what you would like
to see. Remember, let’s get those Golf Outing registrations in!
Looking forward to seeing you in September,
Yours in professional aircraft maintenance, Cliff
Kelling, Secretary
