Minutes of Chapter Meeting
October 19, 2004 Meeting at Lane Aviation,
5:30
Opening:
The meeting was opened and presided over by
Jeff Gruber. He announced the election of officers in November, and
asked for everyone's nomination of a candidate for election.
Jeff also reminded us of the sacrifice we asked for at the meeting
attended by Brian Finnegan (PAMA National president). We agreed that
this chapter would prefer a reduction in national membership dues rather
than a one-time rebate of $15 when someone joined the national
organization. He reminded all of us that we should consider our
obligation to the industry and try to support it through national
membership. We are pleased to announce that some of you did respond
by requesting applications for national membership. Thank You!
Jeff also introduced the aviation maintenance technology students in
attendance from Columbus State Community College. Those, and others in
attendance are listed in the acknowledgements section of this letter.
Announcements:
Louie was gone for the October meeting--Jeff Gruber
presided. We had over 42 members and guests in attendance.
Remember, Honeywell will be making the presentation on November 9th.
Be sure to try to make it in November to lend your support to this fine
sponsor and the
election of officers process. And don't forget December; Dr. Sullivan,
with COSI will be presenting.
Roger Olsen is encouraging everyone to get involved
in and support the FAA's safety program. This looks like it will soon be
a fine source of information for all mechanics and pilots. Check out and
register yourself at http://www.faasafety.gov/
.
Presentation:
We can thank Bill Lipstrue, president
of Integrated Aircraft Systems, Inc. for the fine dinner and
presentation this evening. He sponsored Paul Quinn with Parker-Hannifin
and his presentation on Aircraft Hose and Coupling Assemblies. Paul's
topic covered:
Hose Application design features and preferred uses.
Construction of the inner tube, reinforcement, synthetic rubber,
Teflon and compatibility with various fluids.
Fire Protection and the differences with fire resistance and fire
proof.
Installation Tips concerning cutting, "end-dipping" and
banding coverings, and,
Age/Life Limits and helpful hints on testing, determining
"On-condition" and troubleshooting. An excellent presentation
from which I am sure everyone learned something.
