Minutes of Chapter Meeting
Mar. 9, 2004 Meeting at Lane Aviation, 5:30p.m.
Report to PAMA members, March 9, 2004
Opening: Louie Fura was unable to make the meeting due to work related to receiving AEP’s new airplane. I’ll let him tell (brag to) you about it. Jeff Gruber did a fine job of bringing everyone up to date on upcoming events.
Announcements: Jeff reminded us of the State Aviation Maintenance Symposium to be held at Columbus State Community College next week – Wednesday and Thursday, March 17-18, 2004. To register, email mbrown02@cscc.edu, subject Symposium, and include your name, address and dates of attendance. Also, he ask if anyone would like to help out at the COPAMA booth, anytime, either of those days to please let him or Louie Fura know. You may also contact me, Cliff Kelling at ckelling@cscc.edu or leave a message at copama@yahoo.com.
The COPAMA 2nd Annual Golf Scramble has been set for Friday, June 18, 2004 at Kyber Run Golf Course near Johnstown, Ohio. For more information and registration, call Jeff Gruber at 614-287-7105 or go to www.copama.org for updates over the next few weeks.
Jeff also petitioned the members to consider participating in a genuinely rewarding experience by volunteering to be a judge at the District Science Day, Saturday, March 20, 2004. COPAMA will be sponsoring an award. If you would be interested, feel free to contact Jeff at 614-327-8187 (cell). Also, check out the District Science Day Website at http://www.cscc.edu/docs/science/.
Presentation: The evening’s dinner and presentation was provided by Pete Kilmartin and Duncan Aviation. The subject was on “Pre-Purchase” inspection of primarily corporate aircraft. He shared with us “time-tested tactics” to help everyone with their needs. Pete spoke of the importance of:
Reduced risk of ethical, economic and regulatory issues.
People involved in the pre-buy inspection process: the seller, buyer, lawyers and mechanics. Also, the concept of “Past, Present and Future” was introduced as a strategy for successful inspections.
Maintenance records and history research. He cautioned us that the process is complicated and sometimes emotional.
Pete gave an excellent presentation on the serious and complex nature of “Pre-Purchase” agreements. He will present a full, IA Renewal version at the Aviation Symposium at Columbus State Community College, March 17-18, 2004. You are encouraged to take in this excellent experience.
Thanks to goes, again, to the sponsors of the raffle; Lane Aviation, API and ASCO. Your participation is of great value to the success of the chapter, and is greatly appreciated.
Finally, we would like to welcome aboard new members:
Thomas Messier
David Kreczko
Miles Hood
Nathan Hood
Francisco Sanchez, and
Donald Wahl
Yours in safe aircraft maintenance, Cliff Kelling, Secretary
