Minutes of Chapter Meeting
May 11, 2004 Meeting at Lane Aviation, 5:30p.m.
Opening:
Louie Fura opened the meeting with a lively Tell us what
you think discussion about membership in PAMA National. A
few members spoke strongly about the need and importance of support
for the national organization. There will be a meeting on the
subject at the AEP hangar, 5:00pm June 8, 2004. Everyone is
encouraged to join to help support a strong representation,
communication, safety and education. Also, at this time, we expect
representation from PAMA National, possibly Brian Finnegan himself,
to be present at our June meeting; Plan to attend, voice your
opinion and ask questions! Everyone needs to pull together on this
one!
Announcements:
The COPAMA 2nd Annual Golf Scramble has been set for Friday, June 18, 2004 at Kyber Run Golf Course near Johnstown, Ohio. For more information and registration, call Jeff
Gruber at 614-287-7105 or go to
www.copama.org for updates.
Time is running out. Register soon!
Some members have expressed a desire to have a list published of
everyone's name, address, phone number and e-mail address. Others
have expressly stated that they do not want this. Therefore, at the
next meeting we will be asking that you assist in this matter by
responding to a survey and waiver to release such information. You
can also advised Cliff Kelling via e-mail as well.
Roger Olsen is encouraging everyone to get involved in and support
the FAA's safety program. This looks like it will soon be a fine
source of information for all mechanics and pilots. Check out and
register yourself at www.faasafety.gov
.
May's attendance was a little less than 30 people!
It appears that we had a problem with Yahoo e-mail last month—the
system truncated the mail, due possibly to size limits. Therefore,
future e-mail will be concise to see if it helps to eliminate the
problem. A special
thanks go to each and every one of you for your support of the
chapter, scholarships and participation in civic events! Looking
forward to a huge attendance in June, and a great turnout for the
golf scramble. Please, try to let us know if you can make it!
Luke Polczinski, with Lane Aviation, is arranging classes on NDT and
would like to hear from you if you are interested in certification.
Give him a call at Lane's maintenance facility.
Next month's meeting will be presented June 8, 2004 at Lane Aviation
by Mike Lotzer with Rapco on Vacuum Systems. Like Jeff Gruber insists,
this should be FUN! Let's see your happy face at the meeting, and at
the Golf Outing.
Presentation:
The evening's presentation was by Global Jet Services and Randy
Jakoubek on Runway and Taxi Markings. Randy introduced his company
and "On-site Training" and fit his presentation to the
needs of mechanics. He reminded everyone of the
need for a health respect for runway and taxiing rules and signs.
Mechanics have a responsibility, just like pilots, to be aware of
the signs and rules for movement of aircraft on an airport. He
showed an excellent FAA video and reviewed the subject of
Standardized Signs. We look forward to hearing more from Randy.
Thanks go out, again, to the sponsors of the raffle; Lane Aviation, API, ASCO, Bizjet, Mid Coast, Tritex, JSSI and others. Your participation is of great value to the success of the chapter, and is greatly appreciated.
Finally, we would like to welcome aboard new
member:
Jeffery Vance, student at Columbus State Community College.
Yours in professional aircraft maintenance, Cliff Kelling, Secretary
